An overnight flight means that we arrived in Dubai early on day 2, and then flew on to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!
A last-minute upgrade offered by Emirates meant we could enjoy the relative comforts of Business Class for around 5 hours, and we arrived to face the vaguaries of Ethiopian customs and immigration in good spirits.
By the time we (all 23 of us) made it through the airport halls it was getting late, and that meant an abbreviated visit to the national museum and its most famous inhabitant.... Lucy.
Lucy is the name given to the remains of the earliest ancestor of modern humans to walk upright "Australopithecus afarensis". She has been dated at around 3.2 million years old.
Otherwise, we are getting to know our fellow travellers and enjoying our informative guide Elias.
Dinner tonight is a buffet of traditional Ethiopian "Wat" underpinned by Injera.
