Day 1, we leave home and head into the blue

Well today has finally arrived, and we have done all of the things you do at the last minute before a major overseas trip... Finalised our packing, said our good-byes to various family and friends, found a new flat for Ben and helped him move house, welcomed the house-sitter and introduced her to the cat...
Sydney airport has welcomed us with an early dinner with friends followed by a relatively painless trip through customs (in spite of a strike by "border force") and now some serious relaxing in the Emirates lounge before we meet our fellow adventurers and board the A380 for Dubai and onwards to exotic Addis Ababa!!
